The Global Dance Challenge Announces Its Premiere Edition
Vancouver, BC - January 17th 2017
The Global Dance Challenge (GDC) today announced its first edition which will be taking place from January 31st to February 4th and will be hosted by some of the industry’s most renowned international judges. GDC will unite young career driven artists in an atmosphere unique to itself.
The Global Dance Challenge serves as an introduction to an international platform and is an auspicious occasion to promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding among its participating candidates and the audience. GDC is open to professional, non-professional dancers and students from all around the world who will be training through masterclasses, workshops, stage experience and cultural programs alongside the competition itself for scholarships and much more.

- Frank Andersen, Former Artistic Director of the Royal Danish Ballet and Royal Swedish Ballet
- Charlene Campbell Carey, Artistic Director of Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre and Director of VIBE USA
- Robert Binet, Choreographic Associate of the National Ballet of Canada
- Shawn Byfield, Dora Mavor Moore Award Winner and Founder of Byfield Dance Experience
- Nicolae Vieru, Artistic Director of the Ballett Akademie Vieru
- Lin Meifang, Shanghai Dance School, Distinguished Instructor
- Zhong Lu, Shanghai Dance School, Music and Dance Department Deputy Manager
- Zhang Aoyue, Winner of the First Season of So You Think You Can Dance China

Global Dance Challenge aims to brings together some of the most outstanding young dancers from around the world and serve as an introduction to an international career. Open to participants of all nationalities, GDC provides professional coaching, masterclasses, stage experiences and cultural programs to cultivate artistic excellence as well as to inspire dancers to be conscientious global citizens. Culminating in Canada’s cultural hub, in the beautiful city of Vancouver, participants will gain exclusive access to world class coaching sessions and masterclasses before performing and compete for a range of medals, awards and scholarships to assist them in continuing their pursuit of fulfilling their artistic dreams.
